On-the-Go: Understanding Land Acknowledgments
Synopsis
Course Overview
Land acknowledgements are common at meetings and events, but what makes one meaningful? In this On-the-Go module, UFCW members and activists will learn why land acknowledgements matter and how to identify the Indigenous territories, treaty lands or homelands where they live and work.
You’ll explore how to make a land acknowledgement accurate, respectful, and relevant to the occasion. You’ll have an opportunity to draft a short acknowledgement in your own words, connecting your relationship to the land with one action you can take toward truth and reconciliation.
