Course Overview

Who controls the media? What effect do the media have on the public? Do media socialize us? People tend to view media (newspapers, TV, internet etc.) as those things that are outside of themselves however, to gain a better insight is to see them as an extension of ourselves. This course opens our eyes as to what advertisers, TV networks and politicians want us to see. We look into what is media; the power of the corporations, what affect it has on our privacy, democracy and globalization.
