Safe Workplaces During a Pandemic
Synopsis
Course Overview
A pandemic occurs when a new virus that is different from seasonal viruses emerges and spreads quickly between people, causing illness worldwide. Most people will lack immunity to the pandemic virus. A pandemic virus can be more severe, causing more deaths than a seasonal one. Because it is a new virus, a vaccine may not be available right away. A pandemic could therefore overwhelm normal operations in workplace settings.
Viruses can spread quickly from sick workers to others who are nearby in the workplace. Workers are often in close contact, sharing the same space, supplies, and equipment for long periods of time. As a result, there is an increased risk that workers will spread viruses and other illnesses to each other. This course gives you basic tips on how to protect yourself while at work from possible policies and procedures to PPE, including practical advice on how to keep you and your families safe.
